Monthly Recap – September 2019

Proud Judge of Cert Clean Clean Beauty Awards for the second year in the row

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome if You are new here ???

Nice to see You here again! In this Monthly Recap type of posts I will let You in behind the scenes on what’s happening at Green Life In Dublin HQ, aka my living room πŸ™‚ You will learn what products I have been getting/ testing/ using; what I am doing/ enjoying/ reading/ watching. Sounds good? Then keep on reading πŸ™‚

While I am beginning to feel down in the dumps and can feel SAD coming back with the vengeance (it always does come fall and winter and rainy cold weather does nothing to help!), one of the things that gave me tremendous amount of joy was being selected as a judge for Cert Clean for the second year in the row. They are working hard at bringing the best natural products to the masses, sifting through millions of greenwashing brands & products (a big issue, I could talk about it for days!) – and that’s a mission behind my own blog too, so it reasonates deeply with me. Although I am yet to get my judging box, I made sure to shout about it from the rooftops πŸ™‚ Not quite sure why I chose such a bad photo of myself though πŸ™‚

Ladies and gentlemen, I am very happy to announce I have been selected as a judge for the second year running for #cleanbeautyawards run by @certclean and @purpicks ? They are working hard at presenting you with the best of the best of #naturalandorganicproducts and that is the mission that resonates deeply with me too. I started my blog a decade ago when I was making my own switch and could not find anything clean and natural locally to me. Online stores didn't exist back then (hard to believe, I know) and natural mineral make up could be described as fifty shades of beige, without any exciting shades or decent product selection. Thankfully #greenbeauty scene has exploded since, something I am very happy about! As it gathered pace, it also sparked lots and lots of green washing (please don't get me started on that!) and this is why we need Clean Beauty Awards like this – to help you guys sift the best products! I can't wait to get started and I will keep you posted on my judging journey. Pen, notebook and spreadsheet at the ready ? ?️???️? . . . . . . . #cleanbeautyawardsjudge #cleanbeautyawards2019 #cleanbeautyawardsjudge2019 #certclean #purpicks #letsgetthisstarted

With September being such a cold and miserable, I am turning my attention to self care and health care, done all natural ways of course! I published two related posts this month, one on dental care (no new cavities post dental check up, which is huge for me!), the other on My Natural & Organic Medicine Cabinet, where I reveal all my secrets to how I keep mine and my family’s health in check during the Sickness Season, including natural remedies, superfoods, essential oils, homeopathic remedies and even a natural antibiotic, antiviral, antifungal remedy that is also amazingly one of the Mother Nature’s one of the strongest antioxidants – say what? Yes really! The joys of adulting, ha.

One more thing I did that ties in with the natural medicine, is making fire cider, or should I say medicinal cider? See the details on my IG.

Oh a #fermentingfun kick today! #Fireacider makers, please share your recipes with me? I haven't heard of it until last year, but when I made it with chilli, no one wanted to consume it ? So this year I renamed it to #medicinalvinegar and my recipe consists of garlic, onions, juniper berries, rosehips, rosemary, turmeric, lemons and ginger. All organic except lemons, cos I could not source them organic at the this time. Fingers crossed! Quick question, I have these wonderful #camomileflowers left from making #camomileglycerite, can I add them to the vinegar or I would spoil it? ? Slide two: leftovers + #organicthyme in a smaller jar. Slide three: fermented fresh beets in the making! My hands are wonderfully pink now, how can I show them to people at work tomorrow? ? . . . . #healingremedies #fermenteverything #makeyourownwellnessmedicine #organicvegetables #greenlifeindublin

I don’t know what I did to deserve this, but I sure thanked my lucky stars at being able to score all of these amazing books for free at the charity shop I frequent. I made sure to come back with three bags of donations the next day πŸ™‚

That bumped my reading list to this list below – and I bought six more since! Oh, and a Moonology diary for 2020 πŸ™‚ Moon diary is something I didn’t even know existed. I am Moon newbie, but after not being able to stop thinking about it & racking my brains for an excuse to get it, I finally went for it. It was my Item Of The Month (one of the reward systems in our family) – any excuse is good enough, really πŸ™‚ Apparently there will be six Lunar Eclipses in 2020 and this diary has casts and spells to help it go smoothly.

Somebody come to slap my fingers please? I could leave all my money at book and cute stationery shops πŸ™‚ Anyone else like me? No?

Another thing that I was doing behind the scenes was making an intentional progress at reducing my stash,Β  I aim at having only one open product at any given category. As a blogger I do want to be producing good content for you guys, but I have a big problem with being wasteful. From now on, I will be a minimalistic blogger – I hope I will be able to navigate this are successfully! My anxious mind is screaming internally and making all those insane wishlists, I am kind of tempted to make a blog post out of it πŸ™‚ One of the things I wished for, materialized already – via LinkedIn out of all places! LinkedIn is a tool I under-utilized the most, thinking of it as a place to put the CV out and forget about it for the next 100 years. Oh, how wrong I was! So I went on the connecting spree and a few offers came through from it. You will hear about them very soon. And if You want to connect, find me here.

Oh, and if You want to know my DIY Whipped Body Butter recipe, then see me guest blogging at the EcoLogical here.

That’s all for now. Please like and share this or any of my other posts on social media, it really helps to get the green beauty word out – and you will forever have my gratitude!

  1. It is just amazing how hard one works as a β€œblogger” Really, you are much more than a blogger and it is hard to just put it into words. All the things that you are doing are so interesting! And I feel you on the being wasteful aspect, I have been focusing on that too.

    1. Thanks for reading Luisa! Yes, most people don’t realize just how much of hard work goes in behind the scenes – if you aren’t careful, you can end up working from 6am to checking emails “one last time” at 11pm.. I so wish it would be just hit “publish” and be done for a week πŸ™‚
