Hi Lovelies,

Madara make up review & swatches

Madara is well established brand in the green beauty world and they recently released make up, so I wanted to know! Want to see swatches and my thoughts on their concealer and eye & cheek multi-shadow in Seduction? Keep on reading 🙂

You have probably seen the photos all over social media – the looks are often high shine, high gloss and very editorial looking. I chose two products for a review, the ones I deemed the most wearable for every day – I am just your regular mom on the school run and I don’t need lizard shadow or cosmic drops – I will leave that for make up artists/ Youtubers etc. The range has foundations, concealers, lip glosses (no lipsticks just yet), brow pomades, cheek & lip multiples called multi-shadows & various shades of highlighters called cosmic drops. I believe all the range is vegan, nut free, gluten free, natural & organic certified by ECOCERT & cruelty free.

I chose Concealer Luminous Perfecting Concealer  #25 Latte* because I am always interested in new concealers and this one promises good things like erasing under eye darkness and Guilty Shades Eye & Cheek Multi-Shadow – #63 Seduction*, which is their multiples.

Madara The Concealer Luminous Perfecting Concealer – #25 Latte

Latte is their second lightest shade. At the moment it is ever so slightly too pale for me, but it might work mid winter, when all of us are at our palest. The texture is creamy and smooth, applies and blends beautifully. It does not leave that shiny look on under eyes that so many other concealers do, and it does not crease at all, even when I apply two layers, I have to give them that. The description of it says “Meet the never seen before concealer. This natural certified concealer hides dark circles, blemishes and redness yet mystically remains unseen. The dewy finish and long-lasting comfortable wear is powered by hydrating hyaluronic acid and smart retouching minerals.” I would have to disagree slightly with this, I do not find it covers well, I wish it had more coverage. You see, my hereditary dark circles aren’t fixable by any amount of green smoothies/ exercise/ sleep/ fresh veggies, and I have acres of it, we are talking real estate here! Yes, I know, I am a lucky gal 🙂 I measure all the concealers I try to my gold standard of Hynt Beauty Duet Perfecting Concealer (review), which is the only concealer that works for my needs – it would cover anything, even tattoos. This Madara concealer didn’t measure up sadly, but we have to remember that not everyone is looking for a heavy duty concealer. I will try a corrector underneath to see if it will make a difference. And it does not last more than half of the day, sob.

Guilty Shades Eye & Cheek Multi-Shadow – #63 Seduction

I will admit I chose this shade purely because it looked very Nars Orgasm’esque, which is very much up my alley – did you see this post for my take on more than 20 natural Nars Orgasm dupes? In the pictures it looked exactly the same peachy-pink -with-gold-undertones shade, so I was very excited. In real life it looks different, no gold shimmers, just a very slight sheen that’s more purple pink, and the colour leans more towards mauve than pink, but it is beautiful nonetheless. Reminds me very much of Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot in Harmony, but with different undertone. It lasts well on the cheeks & eyes (with some creasing though), not so much on the lips.

I will be honest upfront and will tell you I did a rookie mistake of not looking at the ingredient list before getting the products, I was trusting the brand and assuming the ingredients will be nothing short of natural. Well, I have to tell you, one of the first ingredients in the lists is butylene glycol, something I usually avoid. EWG, Chemical of The Day and other resources generally deem it as safe, but my issue with this ingredient is that it can not only irritate the skin, but also trigger immune system in some cases (something I need the least considering I have autoimmune and facial dermatitis). That, and it is often petroleum derived – I truly hope to God this isn’t the case with Madara. I could not find any info on that on their website and social media, so I shot them a quick email and will update you as soon as they will come back to me. *update, they did come back saying it is all natural and made from sugar cane.

So there it is, my first impressions review and make up look (above), where I only used Madara, apart from my mascara. I have seen practically no swatches or reviews on social media, so I hope this post will help some of you, then my work here would be done 🙂  I am adding these swatches to my Green Beauty Swatch Gallery post here, be sure to check it out for more natural product swatches & reviews, thanks in advance for reading.

So that’s it for today’s review. Your turn – have you tried Madara make up yet? What about skincare? What are your favourite products from the brand? ?

*Update – Madara came back to me about the ingredient I questioned, saying it is derived from sugar cane.

  1. Love it Renata, thanks so much for this honest review! I laughed out loud… I don’t need lizard shadow or cosmic drops either… lol! Still tempted to try this. Not the concealer though, I have dark bags for Britain. 🙂 xx

    1. Thanks for reading Helen! And you know me, I will say what I think when it comes to reviews x
