Living Libations Copal Musk Poetic Pits

Hope life is treating you well? You guys know my love for Living Libations knows no bounds – you will be hard pressed to find ingredients as pure as this – the products are sure to satisfy any purist out there! I know I am a big fan, and this FB album of mine housing quite a number of reviews will testify for that. Today I am coming at you with a review of quite an interesting product – ever heard of natural deodorant made entirely out of essential oils? Please step forward all Poetic Pits!

I know! My mind was blown too, and I did not rest until one ended up in my hands. But more importantly, does it work? We shall find out 🙂

Most of us know natural deodorants as containing baking soda, arrowroot powder or magnesium, things like that, so this product called my name for sure – for the fun of trying new product if nothing else. Because the idea of using pure essential oils on armpits blew my mind.

Let’s see the excerpt from Living Libations site:

“The scent of these arm-pits is an aroma finer than prayer.” Walt Whitman

From the fragrance of flower pheromones, we venture into the aromatic-anemone of our armpits. Our current olfactory recession now masks our odors with an obsession for synthetic scented confections – mere chimeras of past perfumed-plant preparations. Yet, real to the feel aromatics still exist with botanicals beneficial to the micro-life in the rainforest in our pits. Why wouldn’t one want the plant-pheromones to mix, meld, and enhance our aroma in lieu of synthetic aldehydes of androstenone packed in aluminum and petroleum oil?

Does “natural” simply mean choosing an “aluminum-free” deodorant? Or can your daily deodorant go further; instead of choosing the least detrimental deodorant, what if your deodorant could actually enhance your state of well-being and unleash your most euphoric personal aroma upon the world?

Living Libations Poetics Pits do just that. Underarm Charms have revolutionized the concept of deodorant. Apply the sensuality of sandalwood, the reality of roots, and the purity of petals to your sacred armpit areas. Instead of a chemical cocktail and an aluminum-free guarantee, we have gone back to nature, whose breathtaking botanicals give us everything we need to create fresh, fragrant underarm charm that lasts till your next bath.

Living Libations Copal Musk Poetic Pits was created to arouse your underarms with poetic aromas of love and bliss. Emit a sensual song of pure plant poetry from your pits! Featuring copal, sandalwood and musk mallow essences, Copal Musk Poetic Pits creates a spirited tantric-triple-threat of arousing euphoria. It contains skin-soothing and sensual attractant properties to keep your underarms smooth, fresh, and fabulously fragrant.

Use:
Swipe once to charm each underarm. Pair with our Ever Moss, Vanilla Velvet, Secret Land of Is Colognes or our Fawn Lily, Lilac Lady, Moccasin Flower, Lei Lady Lei or Lavish Abundance Petal Perfumes.

Please Note: Poetic Pits are 100% concentrated essential oils, so it is best to dodge damaged, inflamed, and allergic skin. The ingredients are selected from essential oils that are recognized as safe for the skin. As everyone has skin that responds uniquely, we advise users to patch test inside the elbow before using. Keep out of reach of children. For use on sensitive skin, dilute with jojoba oil or try our Crème Underarm Charms.”

Now, isn’t that just dreamy? Let’s look at the full list of ingredients?

Organic Ingredients:

Sandalwood Essential Oil (Santalum album) – Sandalwood is rich and creamy, offering a dreamy scent that harmonizes with your personal scent while balancing oil production. Drier pits and perfect moisture levels mean you are confident in your underarm charm. Our ethically harvested, heavenly scented sandalwood essence is distilled from the heartwood of the aromatic tree. It sizzles with magnificent moisture and botanical-biotic powers. This warm, rich, sensual oil is a staple in our Poetic Pits and in natural hair and skin care all over the world.

Copal Essential Oil (Daniellia olivera) – Captivating copal essential oil is steam distilled from the coniferous resin of this African tree. Thanks to its high levels of sesquiterpenes, copal is perfect for pits. In addition to skin care, copal oil is used in sacred ceremonies and meditation rituals. When used for consecration and purification, copal conjures a sense of peacefulness, acceptance, and appreciation.

Musk Mallow Essential Oil (Hibiscus abelmoschus) – Mesmerizing Musk Mallow rouses your pits with aromatic-amorous-amber, musky notes of pure plant poetry! Extracted from the pungent seeds of the tropical flower, this particular type of musk oil is the only botanical oil of its type that is neither synthetic, nor derived from animal sources. Within its seeds lays ancient Ayurvedic secrets of wellbeing for skin and soul. Its rich, sweet-earth aroma heralds its appealing arts, which are said to balance and rejuvenate the skin. Traditionally the seeds have been used to flavor coffee, perfume hair, and scent skin.

Frankincense Essential Oil   (Boswellia carterii) – The quintessential essence for cultivating reverence is frankincense. Liquid pearls from the tree of life, frankincense is distilled from the resinous sap of the tree. Frankincense exudes fortitude, strengthening skin and spirit with the nourishment of the ages. This ancient oil has been used for millennia to clarify and calm sensitive skin. It also offers rich, complex, otherworldly aroma.

Honey Myrtle Essential Oil  (Melaleuca uncinata) – Lively lemon notes are lassoed and tamed by soothing, warm notes of honey on the range. The lemon-fresh freedom of the breaking summer day might run away if it were not for the reassuring warmth of myrtle’s refreshing green fragrance. High-spirited honey myrtle is said to elevate emotions and firm skin, creating a supple surface on which to paint your poetic pits.

Marjoram Essential Oil  (Origanum marjorana) – Sweetly herbaceous marjoram has been used to purify body, mind, and spirit since biblical times. Steam distilled to capture the botanical blessings of this fragrant herb, our marjoram’s warm and penetrating aroma is serene. It was revered by the ancient. Greeks and Romans for its power to invoke peace and happiness, and the sweet, herbaceous fragrance of marjoram was used to mask undesirable odors.

I have been using this product for a couple of months now (interchangeable with other products though) and here are my honest thoughts about it. First of all, my thoughts about natural deodorants are forever changed. Turns out You don’t need baking soda & the like, who knew? Secondly, the big question you want me to answer – does it actually work? Yes it does, but here’s two things I should explain. First of all, this is not the antiperspirant, so it will not stop sweat, please understand that. Secondly, personally I found I needed to re-apply it after about 5-6hrs. But! It doubles as a perfume you guys! On the days I was wearing it, I was pleasantly surprised when I did catch my own scent. You don’t feel it most of them time, unless you put your arms up, needing to reach something high up for example. I was like “what smells so good here?” and then I’d remember it is Living Libations Poetic Pits! The one and only scent I have is the one you see in the photo, Copal Musk* [provided by the brand] – it is an interesting slightly masculine scent. You might like it if you like more heavy, more Eastern type of perfumes. If you are powder/floral kind of gal (or guy), please feel free to peruse the selection, I am sure You would find something that appeals to you – they have loads of choice. And they released minis of all of their Poetic Pits! Having poked around the internet, I learned that not all of them last equally, so that’s my reasoning for wanting to try all of them – because I do want to know, godammnit ?
So, do I recommend this product? Yes, if you have been looking at it and wanting to try it for ages, then I say go ahead! Also, if the higher price point is not an issue to you. The quality is reflected in the price here though, I think it is reasonably priced knowing quality of Living Libations ingredients. It is pure essential oils after all, and correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think you can get good quality for bargain price. Sandalwood is one of the expensive oils after all, a true prized possession for millenniums. I just want You to make up your own mind about it – that’s why I included every aspect of it I could think of.

All in all, I am happy I got to try this product and I will be back for more.
