Plastic Free Make Up - Natural & Organic
Plastic Free Make Up – Natural & Organic

.
We all know that plastics are bad for us, our health and the planet. And hopefully You have been taking the steps to reduce it in our every day lives & were left wondering – what about make up? Especially if it’s natural and organic? It’s about time we all took action and took responsibility for our actions – every little bit counts! Even not buying or using plastic straws. Or having a lunchbox. Because you are not producing considerable amounts of trash every single day, when it is easily avoidable. Have a Starbucks habit? Take a reusable coffee cup with you. So many people don’t actually know, or choose to ignore, the fact that coffee cups aren’t recyclable. They are not made from paper as one would assume, they are made from mixed materials, and lined with plastic from the inside. Just think what would happen if you poured hot coffee into real paper cup – it would melt within seconds. So, your every take out cup you ever got are still polluting our planet somewhere. Yeah, sorry about being the bad guy for pointing that out.

Thankfully Zero Waste movement is going strong, and more and more people people are joining it. Myself included. This post is for those of you wanting to significantly reduce plastics in your make up stash – let me show you the green beauty options!

Don’t beat yourself up about the products you currently own, just replace them with plastic free options as you go along. It is a bit tricky to avoid plastics all together as I don’t know one company who would house all of their make up products in plastic free packaging (plastic lids and pumps are common) nor I know if it can be done at all, but I wanted to highlight the companies who are trying their best. So, let’s get into it?

(Little FYI note upfront, I haven't tried all of these products, I am only one person, but give me time and I will work my way through them, ha. Ask me questions on IG about the products I own and I will do my best to answer)
Zao Organic Make Up
Zao Organic Make up

Zao – refillable and recyclable bamboo packaging on most of their products. Bamboo palette for your own customized collection. Review here.

Pure Anada Lip & Cheek rouge in Isabella swatch

Pure Anada – cardboard packaging on pressed pans, like foundation, blushes and eye shadows. metal tube mascara & lipstick. Big fan of foundation & other powder products like blushes & shadows – the pigment is insane! Also, any naysayers claiming that green beauty is boring 50 shades of brown, should take a look at this brand. I have a few posts here, here and here

RMS Beauty Lipstick Swatches
RMS Beauty Lipstick Swatches

RMS – selected products housed in glass pots. Mainly concealers and lip & cheek stains, bronzers and luminizers. Sadly new products like eye shadows and palettes are in plastic, I am not even sure why? Lipsticks are in aluminium bullets, review here..

100%Pure – cardboard palettes, lipsticks in metal tubes. Cream foundations in glass, blushes and bronzers in metal tins.

Living Nature – foundation in glass. Blushes and other products in recyclable cases.

Studio78Paris – cardboard or glass for selected products like bronzers.

PHB – eye shadows in cardboard boxes. Foundation looks like it is in glass, but I am not too sure.

Couleur Caramel – cardboard palettes, single pans, lip gloss & foundation tubes. Customizable cardboard pans. Good quality make up too, big fan!

Kjaer Weiss – ultimate refillable line. Uber expensive, so make sure to try samples first to see it is for you.

Axiology Beauty – vegan lipsticks housed in metal tubes. Not sure about lip crayons though.

Vapour Beauty – foundations, blushes and bronzers, as well as primer housed in metal tubes. *Note in 2020 – the brand has sold out since, changed the ingredients & packaging to plastic. Sight.

Avril – wooden chubby lipstick thing & lip/ eye liners. Cardboard eye shaddow palettes. Same with Benecos.

Boho Green Make Up – almost entire line is housed in bamboo or cardboard packaging. Adorbs.

Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot in Harmony swatch

Ere Perez – cream multiples in glass pots. Concealer in glass pots. Great formulas at that. Wooden pencils and metal tubes for lipsticks.

Neek Skin Australia – lipsticks in bamboo/ metal tubes.

Sappho New Paradigm – metal mascara tube, refillable cardboard palettes & single pans.

Gressa – mostly glass packaging on everything.

Antonym – how could I forget Antonym until now? Their bamboo packaging is famous! Foundation is housed in glass.

Colorisi – just discovered this brand at Content Beauty & fell for cute square bamboo packaging hard! The whole range is in my wishlist now.

Aether Beauty – amazing looking gem eye shadow palettes in cardboard packaging.

Jane Iredale – many refillable options. Glass packaging where possible.

AnnMarie Gianni Mineral Makeup Review
AnnMarie Gianni Mineral Makeup Review

AnnMarie Gianni Mineral Make Up – reviewed here.

Fat & The Moon – make up & other products all in tins and glass with very little plastic.

So there’s that, the brands & products at the top of my head. I hope this blog post helps at least one person, I would be very happy with that! If I missed any brand, be sure to let me know on any social media or in the comments. Let’s share the clean beauty love 🙂

Love Lula Beauty Box June & July 2019 [AD]

Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome if you are new here ???

Love Lula Beauty Box June 2019
Love Lula Beauty Box June 2019
Love Lula Beauty Box July 2019
Love Lula Beauty Box July 2019

Umm, I apologise in advance, this post is gonna be a bit different from my usual Love Lula Beauty Box posts where I would not only list ingredients but also my opinions of everything, as well as previous month boxes. Reason being is that I have too many plates to spin at the moment, work/life balance isn’t really in my favour right now, and as a result my health suffered. That’s the story in a nutshell, normal service resuming in August 🙂 Not wanting to disappoint my readers, I am still doing a post, but shorter version of it.

LOVE LULA BEAUTY BOX JUNE 2019

Worth 48£ this box had  two products from NATOrigin  – Mascara and Eyeliner, both black (£15.95+£7.95). Mascara was too natural looking for my short lashes, so I gave it away, but the pencil is in use. Next we had Ayumi Intensive Hair Conditioning Treatment (£8.99 – 150ml) which I like, I am impressed with a lot of Ayumi products I have tried to far, see this post here. FoM London featured Anti-Pollution Hydra Plump Serum (sample size) which is ultra-light, absorbs quickly and is fragrance free. Madara’s Weightless Sun Milk SPF20 sachet sample was a final addition that month.

LOVE LULA BEAUTY BOX JULY 2019

Worth whopping 101£!!! Yes really – no kidding. Really worth subscribing, don’t you think so? The box featured Dafna’s Personal Skincare Summer Heroes Set in a nice cotton pouch – I will make sure to take this on my holidays (first in four years, overtired me can’t wait!) to test. Next was Madara is their Plum Plum Lip Perfection Balm (15ml – £10) – I like it, seems super moisturising with a delicious fruity scent. Next we got Kathleen Natural Refreshing & Lightening Cleansing Lotion (150ml – £29.50 – I am yet to try this, so let me come back to you on this. I have been impressed with what I have tried from this brand so far though. Next we got 10ml of Skin Alchemist’s Apothecary Sesenne Facial Elixir (10ml – £30), which has 26 skin loving oils in it. What a box, right?

So, all in all it was a great box, I say well done Love Lula! I believe this time UK box and the international box were the same (sometimes they substitute other products for the ones they can’t send internationally, like nail polishes, perfumes, etc..)  Where else you would get that good of a value at the budget price you pay for? Exactly! What I like about Love Lula box is that you are guaranteed to get at least two or three full size products each month, the sample sizes are almost always deluxe samples, like travel sizes. In nearly two years I am getting this box, I’ve seen sample sachets less than five times, I swear. Are you interested yet? Check out here. Want to see what was in previous boxes as well as plenty of reviews on all kinds of products from Love Lula? See this FB album All Things Love Lula here.

Natural & Organic Products For A Weekend Away

Hi Lovelies!

Welcome back and welcome if you are new here ???

Image is not available for a free unauthorized sharing

How are all of you, I hope you are well?

Today is going to be a quick post on what natural and organic products I took to Rome for a mini getaway to treat Mom for her birthday. For those of you who might not know, my mom had a breast cancer about a year and a half ago. She won, which pleases me to no end, but being aware of the limited time we had left, I got this idea in my head to whisk my mom away for her ultimate Birthday this year and I didn’t rest until I made that happen.
I got request to see what exactly I took with me, so this post is for you guys – here is the breakdown of the products. Continue reading “Natural & Organic Products For A Weekend Away”

Affordable Natural Products at Love Lula

Hello Lovelies,

Welcome back! And Welcome if you are new here ???

Affordable natural products - all from Love Lula
Affordable natural products – all from Love Lula

How are all of You, I hope You are well? Today I am coming at you with a post on natural and organic products that won’t break the bank – all available at one place, no less! Please step forward Love Lula! I have been meaning to do this post for a while now  and I got requested to do so via Love Lula Natural Beauty Club on Facebook, so this post is for you, my lovely readers. Shall  we get started?

Clean and natural beauty is the place to be, there’s no question on that, but at the same time it might be overwhelming place, and with so many new brands focusing on “luxe natural” (read = more expensive) products these days, one might make a quick assumption that green beauty is all expensive and out of reach for those of us on a budget. I certainly remember feeling this way at the start of my switch over a decade ago, when there were no online stores to order from (hard to believe, I know – even Love Lula didn’t exist back then) and the only organic face balm cleanser I could find had a price tag of more than 50€. Thankfully we all came a long way since, and I am here to help you find all the best natural stuff – without the hefty price tags! I have had a good long thinking session about it and here are my picks in all areas. Trust me, natural products can be done well even on a budget.

BLOOMTOWN – FOR BODY OILS, SCRUBS, SHAMPOO BAR & ROLL ONS AS A PERFUMES

Bloomtown is a brand I discovered when I tested/judged for The Beauty Shortlist Awards last year and it was so good I had to come back and blog about it (here). Practically all the items in the range are well under 10£ and that price point pleases me so much. No palm oil and scents sooo good you just want to use this stuff over anything else you own. Contains perfume though, so it depends on your level of purity. I have a very sensitive skin and I’ve experienced no problems.

Ayumi products
Ayumi products

AYUMI – FOR SHAMPOOS, BODY OILS, SOAPS, SCRUBS, ETC

Another great budget brand to come to Love Lula recently(ish) is Ayumi – I wanted to know more as soon as I saw the products & I wrote my thoughts here and here. Not everything is at purist level natural, so I skipped skincare and went mainly for products that I can wash off – shampoos, scrubs, which the whole family enjoyed and have repurchased or oils, which are clean. And good. I will continue to use the line and trying new products, want to try Sandalwood body oil next.

Alteya Organics Certified Organic Facial Sprays/ Mists
Alteya Organics Certified Organic Facial Sprays/ Mists

ALTEYA ORGANICS – FOR FLORAL WATERS AND ORGANIC FACE OILS

Alteya Organics is a brand that hails from Thracian Kings Valley in Bulgaria, they grow their own roses and produce not only essential oils but also natural products infused with them. I loved what I have tried so far and I can definitely recommend. As this is a post on a budget products, I would go for their certified organic floral waters, my favourite are rose and chamomile ones (reviewed here) but there’s more to choose from and also their rosehip or jojoba face oils, again, certified organic – but without hefty price tag! Both really really good.

NATURA SIBERICA – FOR EVERYTHING, BODY CARE, HAIR CARE, SKIN CARE

There was the time that I was absolutely dying to try Natura Siberica because I knew they used extracts of wildcrafted plants, so I was hoping they were budget ISUN skincare, but they are not. Most of the stuff is way too fragranced for me to handle, so now I only go for shampoos, washes and body scrubs, but if you have no issues with fragrance, please feel free to sample the whole range, practically everything is budget priced, with some exceptions of targeted skincare.

NEALS YARD REMEDIES – FOR BABY RANGE AND HAND CREAMS

Neals Yard Remedies is a brand that has my respect for years, I have been a customer for the last five years if not more. Really good quality products with highly organic percentages, and the company does everything right in my mind. Anything that can be sustainable, is, anything that can be organic, is, anything that can be carbon free, is. I could go on, they were one of the firsts in the field, looong before it was trendy to care for the plants or the earth. While most of the products are not budget at all, I will admit to that, but may I bring your attention to their baby range, which is affordable and pure? And grab their hand cream while you are at it, I find them really good for the day time.

LABORATOIRE DU HAUT-SEGALA – FOR ORGANIC OILS, BUTTERS, FLORAL WATERS, ETC

They do lots of different pure and organic single ingredient oils, hydrosols, butters and some ready made products too. All Ecocert certified, no less. Perfect if you are a purist – a lot of their products are under 10£, just pick and choose what you want or need. Another brand you might want to check out is Balm Balm?

Organii Everyday Organics
Organii Everyday Organics

ORGANII – FOR BODY AND FACE CARE PLUS ORGANIC PATCHES

Organii was launched as a personal care brand by Pravera, one of the UK’s leading distributors in the natural and organic skincare & cosmetics sector. The brand has a collection of 30+ products now including cream soaps, liquid soaps, shower gels, plasters, mouthwash, sun care, hand care, skin care and health care! Each product within the range is certified natural and organic; all the soaps and shower gels are ECOCERT1 certified, whilst the plasters carry the ICEA² logo. All products other than the plasters are also Certified Vegan. See full review here.

MAKE UP – BENECOS & LAVERA

These seem to be the most cost effective ranges from Love Lula. I think that you can do a nice make up look with cheap cosmetics, taking care of the skin is way more important – so I would skimp on make up and spend on skincare. While I am yet to try loads from Benecos myself, my blogger friend Evelyn from We Were Raised By Wolves just reviewed their make up, see it here. I have a review on Lavera make up – see it here. My own personal make up is a right mix of higher end and budget products. Higher price does not necessarily mean good product, so pick from all price ranges and stick with what works. I am yet to trade my Alverde brow products for something more pricy, because it works and why would I pay more, right? Same with lip liners, but I am yet to find cheapie mascara that would work for me, I keep trying but I can’t win on this front for some strange reason.

Here’s what I would choose if I had to repurchase my stash all over again on a budget:

Body wash – Ayumi Sandalwood & Jojoba Soap 100g – £2.49

Body scrub – Ayumi Sandalwood Body Scrub 200ml – £6.99

Body oil –Bloomtown The Hedgerow Nourishing Dry Oil 100ml – £10

Body cream – Benecos Sea Buckthorn & Orange 150ml – £5.95

Shampoo – Ayumi Argan & Sandalwood Hair Shampoo 250ml – £6.99

Conditioner – sorry, no recs, I use hair oils instead.

Hair Oil – Ayumi Bio Active Growth Hair Oil 150ml – £8.99

Deodorant (sans soda) – Elsa’s Organic Skin Foods 45g – £12

Lip Balm – Hurraw Moon Balm 4.3g – £4.99

Face cream – choose according to your skin type please. My own skin is uber sensitive and dermatitis prone, so understandably I am too afraid to switch my skincare, especially knowing from experience I react to 95% of other products when I do. It takes weeks weeks to heal an outbreak, so please excuse me if I won’t embark on this journey much further. Heard good things about Laidbare though?

Face oil – Alteya Certified Organic Cold Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil 20ml – £8.75

Make Up –BENECOS & LAVERA

Face/ Hair Mist – Alteya Organics Certified Organic Rose Water 100ml – £7.20

Perfume – Walden roll ons or Bloomtown roll ons 10ml – 4.80£

Etc – Organii Organic Cotton Patches (from 2.95£), Lyons Cotton Face Cloth (only 1.99£)Preserve Razors ( 9.95£),

SEE MORE PRODUCTS ALL UNDER 20£ HEre.

*A few thoughts after posting – You can also collect points to get ££ off your next purchase, so make sure to create an account with them if you haven’t already. Also, watch the deals like a hawk (I know I do, it pays to follow me, lol!) as well as checking out their sale section frequently. They often have good sales on more expensive beauty products, but once they are gone, they are gone, so grab something you fancy fast. Another thing I would recommend you do is keeping an eye on this section here – you can get past beauty boxes for far much cheaper than the products are worth individually (with an added bonus of seeing what actually comes in the box), but once again, they go fast. Also remember Love Lula ships for free worldwide for all orders 15£ plus – so easily done!

And last, but least of my tips – maybe, just maybe you might want to subscribe to Love Lula Beauty Box? It is perfect if you love surprises and want to try lots of clean products at a fraction of the cost! I have been getting the boxes for the last two years and I can vouch for it, amazing value guaranteed on a consistent basis – July’s box is worth whopping 101£ – no kidding! The lowest I have seen is 49.95£ and they are working hard at making the selection the best possible, you can expect everything from skincare, body care, hair care, less frequently make up. You know those flimsy one use sachet samples? Not here! Well, very rarely – you are almost guaranteed 3-4 full size products every month. Want a sneak preview on many boxes to date? Check my posts on All Things Love Lula here 🙂

That’s it for today, thanks for reading! Please like and share my posts on social media, it really helps to get the green beauty word out – and you will forever have my gratitude!

Hi Lovelies,
