Iremia Skincare review – Green Life In Dublin

How are all of You, I hope You are well? Today I will review Iremia Skincare for those of You who are interested. I will admit I was interested ever since Whipped Green Girl featured it on her lovely IG feed, so when CertClean  asked me if I want to review some products, I was “yes please and thank You!”

Iremia Skincare is a Toronto-based, cruelty-free, small-batch skincare line created by hypersensitive skin, rosacea and eczema sufferer, Elaine Li. Formulated with the highest quality, natural ingredients Iremia Skincare helps soothe and help manage reactive skin, offering a luxurious yet conscious and calming solution for the entire family.

They believe in simple and effective skincare for sensitive and reactive skin. Iremia Skincare created a more luxurious ritual with a minimal collection that will leave you with soft, calm, glowing skin. In just under three years, Iremia Skincare products have won various awards such as the 2018 Best Facial Oil Award, Fashion Canada and out of over 70 clean/natural face creams, the Soothing Lotion came in 1st place and the Protective Cream came in 2nd place for CertClean’s Clean Beauty Awards. They continue to focus on transparency in their processes and focus on creating products that have multi-functional uses using the most beautiful blends, without sacrificing efficacy.
Their name is inspired by a little town on the ocean in Southern Greece where their founder had her honeymoon, a place that is the inspiration for the name ‘Iremia’.
Iremia Skincare is made without the use of parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, sulfates, added fragrances, and other toxins. Never tested on animals.

You can see the story of the brand here.

Lo, behold, I am the perfect willing hooman test bunny for these products, I am battling perioral dermatitis on/ off since 2016 – mostly on my face, no less! (post). I was sent three products to test, so first I will walk You through the information taken from their site and will let You know my experience and opinion at the end. [review marked as AD because of PR products. Not sponsored, the experience and the review is entirely my own]

The Soothing Lotion

“A product made to be a natural all-in-one solution for very sensitive skin.
It was formulated with the intention of calming sensitive skin, but also providing the benefits of the age-supporting treatments, all in one jar.
With continued use, you will see transformation in your skin’s health, with smoothed pores, softened lines and lighter wrinkles, while helping your soothing and hydrating your skin.
Light, easily absorbed, with a smooth texture, it provides a beautiful layer for your sensitive skin.”

For those interested in the Preservative System:
Notes on the preservative system:
Our preservative system has been sourced from a company that holds a high standard when it comes to formulations. Their principles align with ours, in that their:
– Materials are created from only pure vegetable and mineral building blocks.

– Principles of green chemistry are integrated to promote environmentally sustainable development.

– Raw materials, as well as processing and manufacturing, are safe for humans and the environment.

The preservative system we use is are 100% vegetable and mineral, GMO-free, with no petrochemicals.

The preservative system we use for both the Soothing Lotion and Protective Cream is a combination of glyceryl caprylate & glyceryl undecylenate (also known as Lexgard® Natural) and is a system for naturally preserving cosmetic formulations. It is composed of a blend of two glyceryl monoesters naturally-derived from coconut oil and castor oil. This blend is highly effective as an alternative preservation method, with excellent microbial resistance to bacteria as well as yeast and mold. It is 100% vegetable derived, does not have petrochemical content, Ecocertified by the leading natural cosmetic standards, and its eco-credentials are far superior to “nature identical” petrochemical ingredients.

Lexgard® Natural is composed of high purity monoesters of caprylic acid (well established for its biostatic activity against bacteria and yeast) and undecylenic acid (known for its activity against fungus). Many formulations containing this natural preservative system pass challenge tests required in cosmetics.

It is also important to note that the preservative system itself is also preservative free.

My thoughts & experience

Well, can You see now why I wanted to try it? I think  that the draw is pretty clear. Ingredients sound great, I have nothing to pick at – the lists are minimal and you can understand everything in it without a chemist degree. They are very transparent about the preservative system too, which is very refreshing – You can make informed decision. So do they work I hear You asking? In short, yes. Let me explain. The first thing I have tried was the Soothing Lotion and after experiencing a bit of tingling and tightening sensation upon application, I have to admit I halted the whole testing process for a couple of weeks back in December. After the Holidays were over I came back to it to see if my skin reacts this way again. It still did, but I also have to say both of the tingling and the tightness goes away after a little while, I simply had to get a chance for the product – and the result is more happy and smooth skin. It didn’t quite work as a sole moisturizer I was trying to use it as at the start, but it works beautifully with the other two products. The Protective Cream and the Face Oil impressed me, both beautiful products doing what they are claiming to do. My face is much less red and irritated than it usually is in winters. You should also have a look at the founder’s skin that is free of any kind of blemish & I think You too will arrive at the decision that this stuff works. So for that reason Iremia gets my seal of approval. I cannot comment much on the soothing aspect of the lotion though, I haven’t had active dermatitis breakout during the 6 weeks of testing these products, but the red irritated patches are so much less prominent, so I take it as a good sign it would be good at healing active breakouts too. I encourage You to check out their website and social media & ask away questions there and then. Psst, there *might* be Iremia giveaway on CertClean page soon, so keep Your eyes peeled for Your chance to try the products for Yourself.

There we go, I found You found this helpful.
