Hi Lovelies,

Welcome back! And welcome if You are new here xo

Musings & Things & Empties September 2025

How are all of You, I hope You are well. A little break turned into long break, but  I am truly back.  Let’s talk about all things natural products and another family member?

Musings

My break lasted more than I’d liked it to. A little while of life (and a bit too much stress later) I am back.

Seasonal changes

The minute the weather turns cold, I am in full “Sickness Season” prep mode. Think all things natural for boosting immunity and homeopathic and/or herbal remedies for colds and flu. Like my (not so) secret weapon OreganolP73. Up until very recent (very painful) bout of UTI, I honestly hadn’t had antibiotics for more than a decade, ever since I discovered it. I know it will take care of anything! Obviously that’s the last resort for when things are going bad, but there’s lots of things You can do to manage to not get to that point. If You would like to see a post on all the things I take and give to my family, let me know and I will happily do that for You. Here’s an old post of mine that will give You general idea, but it needs to be updated.

My Natural Medicine Cabinet

I also want to point You to amazing natural resource that is natural honey -most of us don’t know it’s real benefits and even less so of other bee products like propolis and royal jelly. Take over from here Dr. Josh Axe!

amazing benefits of red light therapy

I am seriously considering adding a red light home device to my arsenal. Not LED mask, but infrared kind. Turns out there’s massive difference between the two and I highly recommend You look into it. LED devices penetrate just a few cells deep and therefore don’t make that much difference in my opinion. Here’s a good video on the benefits of red light therapy, just please be sure to get the right kind of device for You.

Failed diys

Let’s have a laugh, shall we? As much as I like a good home DIY, this month I have to confess to two fails. I’ve been wanting to make a manuka honey face wash with Dr. Bronner’s cherry castile soap and a few other ingredients. I added a couple drops of frankincense EO and the recipe said to add one teaspoon of moisturising oil. I added Nini Organics Detox face oil, simply because it was closest to me. Result? Nice texture face wash with a smell of old broccoli! Not too sure what happened with the chemical reaction with the scents, but let’s just say I won’t be using any oil serum in this recipe any time soon. To be continued..

Another sort of a fail was when I infused Atlantic Seaweed Company seaweed into almond oil. I often “diy” body oils mixing almond oil with either essential oils or existing body oils like Evolve Superberry Oil or Leahlani Mahana. I thought of adding seaweed powder into it will give me minerals and micronutrients from the seaweed into the oil. Result? Infused body oil that smells of fish… Yum! I should have known, because that is exactly the same smell I get when I add this seaweed powder into my bath water, so why did I think adding it to the oil would be any different? This is not a total waste though, as I figured I could add this in small amounts into dogs food. The almond oil I use is food grade and I got the go ahead from the brand that it is safe for dog consumption. Seaweed is a great supplement for dog’s diet, just fiy.

On another hand, I might need to add cayenne and castor oil DIY to my Hall of Fame of DIYS. Amazing at taking the pain away! Let me know if You want a post on that, I will be happy to do it for You.

Another dog

Coco

I said “dogs” for a reason, we have a new family member. Three six weeks ago we took in a stray dog thinking someone lost the dog and we will find the owner soon. Long story short she turned out to be un-chipped young female dog who already had puppies. She was all skin and bones, covered in bites and fleas. She didn’t know what to do with a toy at first. Still jumps at every loud noise. I was hoping my brother would take her, but when he said no, our hearts couldn’t take bringing her to the shelter, so she stayed.

natural candles season

I love love love lighting a natural candle in the cold time of the year, especially in dark mornings and long evenings. My firm fvourites are pure beeswax and Sand & Fog candles, both available at Live In The Light. Some natural candles are available at Dutch Health Store and at iHerb. I am forever on the lookout for them where I live, but without much success. What are Your favourite natural candle brands and where are You getting them from?

natural hormone balancers

Here is a good article if You want to know how You can manage hormones naturally. I can’t be the only one not wanting synthetic HRT? I recently got a couple of good books on the subject, I will keep You posted.

reading list

Here’s my current reading list, because I have all the time in the world, right 🙂 Special thanks for Coco for chewing my favourite book of the moment, Sustain Me by Barbara O’Neill.

Things

oplus_2097184

Here’s a list of new products in my stash. I could talk about them for hours, but I don’t want this to turn into 10k words blog post. Ask away of You are curious about specific products?

Evolve Natural Beauty  Divine set

Holland and Barrett advent calendar

Kopari  mists set

Ilia mascara

Laura Geller multiple

Pacifica dream moon set & charcooal underarm scrub

Zatik nutri  face serum

Man alive sandalwood and tobacco body wash

Le petit olivier argan and shower cream

Egyptian magic

Manuka lip balm and hand cream by Cica Manuka

Empties

Najel Hammam Soap

Loved using it post soaking in the bath, but it came destroyed in the mail – twice. Both times from Ecco Verde. Not too sure what logistics problems do they have, but this wasn’t wrapped at all, and it leaked all over the order. While trying to clean everything I also discovered broken glass from another product. Not fun. Granted, they responded quickly and sent me replacements but they also came destroyed. Go figure. Coming back to the product, I might purchase it again some time in the future, but from another place.

Aloe Pura Organic Aloe Vera Gel

I didn’t notice it at the time of buying it, but it has less than desirable ingredients like phenoxyethanol and crosspolymers. There was only one option in the health store, my eye only noticed “organic aloe vera gel” and to my defence I was in a rush. Moral of the story, check Your ingredients people! Even after so many years I got it wrong. Granted, this is so much better than anything “aloe vera” in Boots, they tend to have a lot of ingredients, first ones being water and alcohol. Um, no thanks.
